to Hyphae Consulting, Inc., where our mission is to advance sustainable natural resource management to improve water quality, soil health, wildlife habitat, and overall ecosystem function through science, education, and applied design partnerships to benefit society and the environment.
Hyphae Consulting, Inc., was founded in 2010 by Brendan J. O'Brien as a small biological consulting firm to provide population surveys, wildlife health assessments, and environmental monitoring and compliance services to projects with impacts on threatened and endangered species in the Mojave Desert. Brendan has over a decade of experience working with private energy corporations, environmental advocacy groups, state and federal agencies, and the military to reduce environmental impacts of development projects in sensitive habitat.
Brendan earned a Master's Degree from The Rubenstein School of Environment & Natural Resources at The University of Vermont, where he studied nutrient recycling, ecological design, and applied mycology. He is system's thinker, devoted ecologist, and trans-disciplinary student of the environment with a focus on devising strategies which increase resource use efficiency, reduce waste, and repair damaged ecosystems. He is currently focused on research and design challenges which improve circular economy solutions at the food-water-energy nexus.
